Jadhav Family who are reputed in Solapur City as Sundri players are originated from a village Aherwadi, District Solapur, Maharashtra.Every musical instrument has tradition and legacy, just like all renowned Musical Family in India Baburao Jadhav had invented the "sundri and Sidram Jadhav has broadcasted it.

The story of Sundri's invention is interesting one, before 1895 one of the bobbin (wooden or cardboard pipe used for winding the thread in handloom industry for weaving the handloom cloth) came to their house through oversight from the spinning mill Possession of the bobbin had been taken by the Baburao Jadhav, who drilled eight holes to it and joined the wind pipe of "SushirVaciya he tested its tuning by putting leaves of palm trees. Sound of the sundri felt very much delightful to his ears. Thus he is a pioneer of Sundri H.M .V. Published his L. P Record in 1942. Laxman made Sundri more rhythmatic with Tabla.

Initially people from solapur named this musical instrument as 'Bobbin'. Late Baburao jadhav had been invited for playing Sundri on 27 feb1936 on the occasion of Coronation of the Maharaj Fattehsing King of Akkalkot. Maharaj liked this instrument and he exclaimed 'Sundar, Sundar’ means Beautiful. Maharaj was so impressed with the instrument that, he refused to call the instrument as Bobbin, and renamed it as a ‘Sundri’.

The Jadhav family was traditionally Shehnai player. Late Bhimanna's sons were accompanied him on Shehnat, Dholak. However the credit of propagating & popularizing sundri goes to Pt. SIDRAM JADHAV. Under the patronage of Smt. Hirabai Badodekar, he became 'A' grade AIR Artist in 1954 Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru honoured. In 1980 Late Indira Gandhi appreciated his playing at Tuippur nd he was honoured as SUNDRI SAMRAT. He performed various programmes at B.B.C. London, AIR Centers, Doordarshan and many prestigious concerts.

Pt, Chidanand continued the family tradition, & performed on AIR, Doordarshan & Unique concerts. He was honoured by Sangeet Natak Academy, West Zone Cultural center etc. He is founder of the organization "LATE SUNDRI SAMRAT SIDRAM JADHAV SANSKRUTIK KALA MANDAL". Three Jadhav Brothers kept the spirit of Sundri Vadya live successfully. They intend to take the SUNDRI to global dimensions.
